Today was an awesome day. It was our first class with Craig who is taking over the cityscape painting class. He started by giving us a basic lecture on his view of landscape and cityscape painting. Then he did a painting demo and finally we were sent off to paint. The lecture and day were on painting corridors, but for some reason I forgot this when I happened upon one of my favorite scenes in the town. It is a set of stairs leading up to a random door near the entrance of the city. I saw it today and I heard, "Sola, you HAVE to paint me!"
So I did and I love the results. I also am very excited about the fact that I didn't spend to much time on it. I am actually not done with it. I would like to work on the bricks around the door some more.
After class Craig went through some of my past paintings with me and gave me a very thorough critique which was great. He told me that my work was looking good and he told me there were a couple pieces that he felt should go in the final show. (I just recently found out that the final show will be curated, which means the pieces that are in the show will be chosen by a panel therefore it is important for me to make great work so that I can get pieces in the show. Wish me luck :)
Today is grocery shopping day, but I decided not to go. I am hoping to get some work done today especially now that we have been given our final assignment. We are supposed to do a large painting. I am either going to do a view of Corciano from the monastery (similar to the one I started in Jason's class) or a corridor with one or two figures. I feel like I should have figures in my piece. I might try to do both :) but we'll see.

Good luck (but secretly, I know you will not need it). And btw, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this one.... makes me want to walk into that door, but not after sitting on the stairs to see what is beyond them.
